CONNECT WITH THE SPIRITUAL OASIS

Under the care of the Marist Fathers (Society of Mary) since 1868 St Patrick’s Parish in Grosvenor Street, The Rocks,
and St Brigid’s in Kent Street, Millers Point continues to serve the multinational community of Sydney and beyond.

NOTICE FROM THE PARISH PRIEST

We are grateful and encouraged that you experience the spirit of courage, calm and hope as you partake in the online presence of St Patrick’s, your “spiritual oasis” from wherever you are.

As we move on to another week and the weeks to come in this time of the coronavirus – among other things – consider ourselves invited to re-imagine our lives.

It is in fact, a moment of grace in which we can re-imagine what it means to be a human being, re-imagine what it means to be a society, re-imagine what it means to be a disciple of Jesus, re-imagine what it means to be a Catholic, re-imagine what it means to be me.

Holy Week services will be celebrated here in St Pat’s by our priests and the videos will be made available here in our website and our YouTube Channel.

Many have asked about I the absence of a Priest. Read about Fr Michael Whelan’s recommendation, here,

The parish staff will mostly be working from home. If you have any inquiries please email office@stpatschuruchill.org.

SUBSCRIBE TO OUR EVENTS E-NEWSLETTER

At the beginning of 2017, Michael Whelan SM, Parish Priest, commissioned an icon of St Dimpna who is the patron saint of people in mental and emotional distress – especially those who have been sexually abused.   Her feast day is on May 15.  The icon will form the focus of an annual devotion to St Dimpna each May, with prayers especially for those who are in distress as a result of sexual abuse.

The St Dimpna Community gathers in the Crypt each second Saturday of the month at 7.00pm to offer a place of prayerful support especially for those who have been sexually abused and  for anyone with mental or emotional distress.

For more information contact the parish;  email: office@stpatschurchhill.org; phone (02) 9254-9855.

ST PATRICK’S SAFEGUARDING POLICY

For more than 170 years St Patrick’s has been a spiritual oasis in Sydney. There is a fine tradition of mercy and reconciliation here. Let us work together to ensure that everything possible is done to go on developing that tradition. It is a gift that grows richer with time. It is also a task that will never end.

To keep faith with that tradition, we must take account of the changing times. In particular, we must take account of the findings of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual.   Click on the link to know what special steps are we taking at St Patrick’s   https://stpatschurchhill.org/wp-content/uploads/Safeguarding-policy-at-St-Pats-January-2020.pdf
