CONNECT WITH THE SPIRITUAL OASIS

Under the care of the Marist Fathers (Society of Mary) since 1868.

St Patrick’s Parish in Grosvenor Street, The Rocks and St Brigid’s in Kent Street,
Millers Point NSW, continues to serve the multinational community of Sydney and beyond.

The parish of St Patrick’s acknowledges the Gadigal people of the Eora nation as the traditional custodians of this place we now call Sydney.

SYNODAL GATHERINGS – IN THE CRYPT AND BY ZOOM (monthly)

The spirit of synodal gatherings is
praying, sharing, listening and entering into dialogue.

In the Synodal Gatherings, we will take up the Word of God (the Sunday’s gospel).  Together we will listen to that Word and pray. We will listen to each other. We will enter into dialogue. We will meet in groups of between 5 and 10 people for about 50 minutes.

The three year synodal journey inaugurated by Pope Francis in 2021 to chart a path for our post-modern era follows in the spirit of the Church “renewal” begun by the Second Vatican Council with a re-emphasis on the Church as the journeying People of God – St Patricks Parish – the journeying People of God.

A SPIRITUAL OASIS

THE BEGINNINGS

OUR COMMUNITY

MARIST STORY

At the beginning of 2017, Michael Whelan SM, Parish Priest, commissioned an icon of St Dimpna who is the patron saint of people in mental and emotional distress – especially those who have been sexually abused.   Her feast day is on May 15.  The icon will form the focus of an annual devotion to St Dimpna each May, with prayers especially for those who are in distress as a result of sexual abuse.

ST PATRICK’S SAFEGUARDING POLICY

For more than 170 years St Patrick’s has been a spiritual oasis in Sydney. There is a fine tradition of mercy and reconciliation here. Let us work together to ensure that everything possible is done to go on developing that tradition. It is a gift that grows richer with time. It is also a task that will never end.

To keep faith with that tradition, we must take account of the changing times. In particular, we must take account of the findings of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual.   Click on the link to know what special steps we are  taking at St Patrick’s   https://stpatschurchhill.org/wp-content/uploads/Safeguarding-policy-at-St-Pats-January-2020.pdf
